Measure H: Is it Wise to Put Your Life – and Tax Dollars – Into the Hands of a “D” Rated Hospital?

.

11/17/21 With Measure H, the San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital (SGMH) once again is asking for more of your tax dollars to support their “emergency room”. What they are not telling you is the following:

.

RED FLAG : LEAPFROG “D’” RATING

Leapfrog Hospital Ratings are the gold standard of hospital ratings in the United States. Leapfrog rates hospitals from A to F based on their safety record.

This year Leapfrog gave the San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital a “D” rating :

.

The San Gorgonio Hospital has received this poor rating largely because, unlike other hospitals, they refuse to disclose their safety data and have declined to respond. In 2018 SGMH even received an “F” rating from Leapfrog.

As we can see, it appears that SGMH does not believe the public has a right to transparency when it comes to their safety practices.

This makes you wonder: why would a public healthcare facility try to hide their safety data from the public, particularly when we are in the middle of a pandemic? Does this build public confidence? It most certainly doesn’t.

Instead, such a policy creates only suspicion and public distrust. In fact, distrust in SGMH has become so great that pass area residents joke about this facility as being the “Passaway Hospital”.

Common sense tells us that you never hide good data. So we can only conclude that their safety data must be embarrassingly bad, to the point they don’t want the public to know.

Despite the hospital’s refusal to disclose ANY of their safety record to Leapfrog,  partial data is available from CMS Medicare.

Based on Medicare data obtained by Leapfrog, in the category of “Practices to Prevent Errors”, which includes hand washing, the hospital scores only 5 out of 100 possible points. According to Leapfrog,  SGMH scores the lowest in this category of any hospital they have reviewed this year. Let that sink in.

.

.

In a short video Leapfrog explains what their ratings mean and advises the public to look for other hospitals nearby that may have a higher rating.

What does SGMH have to hide? Why do they think that hiding safety data will entice voters to fund their “emergency room”? Or do they know they can always count on the lying Record Gazette, a.k.a the “fish wrapper”, not to report those poor safety ratings?

RED FLAG : NO JOINT COMMISSION ACCREDITATION (EXCEPT FOR LAB)

Another seal of  healthcare quality and safety is accreditation by the Joint Commission.

It should give us pause to learn that, except for their laboratory, no department of the San Gorgonio Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission .

This means that the SGMH Emergency Department, i.e. the “Emergency Room”, lacks accreditation by the Joint Commission.

.

RED FLAG : SGMH IS AN ENDLESS MONEY PIT

Take a look at your property tax bill : you are already being charged hundreds of dollars annually for obligations of the San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital. For what, you may ask. These charges are for a $108 million hospital bond dating back to 2006. We will all be paying for this bond until 2036.

With the $108 million in bond proceeds SMGH promised voters the construction of a brand new 6-story “patient tower”. The tower, they said, would vastly improve the quality of care. The only problem is: no such tower was ever built.

Instead, SMGH just kept our money and expects us to service this debt, year in and year out, for 15 more years. Plain and simple, this amounts to not only an insult to everyone’s intelligence, but also shows how they are stealing us blind.

But it is never enough. With Measure H they now want us to throw even more good money after bad. If we allow this to happen, it will never end.

RED FLAG : NOTORIOUS SWAMP CREATURE GEORGE MOYER HEAVILY INVOLVED IN MEASURE H

Notorious Banning swamp creature George Moyer is pushing hard for Measure H

Readers of this blog are well aware of former Sun Lakes President and former Banning Mayor George Moyer, who is well known as being one of Banning’s most notorious swamp creatures.

George Moyer’s fingerprints are all over Measure H. Despite having no medical training whatsoever, Moyer is President of the San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital Foundation  – and is obsessed with passing Measure H.

Whenever there is an opportunity to gouge Banning citizens for more taxes or fees, George Moyer can be found on the front lines:

  • In 2018 Moyer tried to gaslight the public by proposing a tax that would have substantially increased Banning’s Electric charges (Measure P). Moyer used fear mongering tactics and lies, which implied the city would otherwise run out of funds to provide public safety. Only because vigilant citizens, which included the Banning City Treasurer, exposed Moyer’s con job for what it was, did the ballot measure fail.

  • Moyer was also behind a tax measure to bring Marijuana businesses, both wholesale and retail, into the City of Banning (2018 Measures N+O) . Both measures were approved by the voters, but have done absolutely nothing to improve the quality of life in Banning – to the contrary.

  • Under Moyer’s leadership of Sun Lakes, the City of Banning “missed” reading several Sun Lakes golf course water meters – for 10 (ten) years! As a result, approximately $227,000 were missing from the city coffers in this fashion. Despite being the president of the Sun Lakes HOA during the time in question, Moyer claimed to know nothing about the unbilled water. This means that Moyer was either completely incompetent running the HOA – or he simply lied, (read more).

  • In 2018 Moyer was caught red handed secretly attempting to divert millions of tax dollars to the benefit of one of his campaign donors. The proposed multi-layered sweetheart deal included selling city land far below cost and providing the donor with a 7-figure credit facility at below market interest rates, (see details)

  • It is well documented that Moyer’s wife Sandra was a director when charitable funds belonging to the Sun Lakes Charitable Trust were transferred to several recipients that were either unregistered, suspended or revoked by the Secretary of State. One of those recipients of charitable funds was an unregistered organization run by none other than Record Gazette Reporter David Heiss. This would explain why Record Gazette readers are systematically left in the dark about the countless scandals and shenanigans emerging in Banning, year in and year out, (more).

  • Last but not least, it should be noted that George Moyer was accused of making death threats against a Sun Lakes neighbor – over a barking dog. Moyer allegedly exclaimed to his wife Sandra : “Go get your gun and shoot the son of bitch”. See Banning Police report here and full story here

No doubt, George Moyer is a real beauty. So much so that even Sun Lakes has gotten wise to him lately: Moyer lost his 2020 re-election bid for city council by a landslide to newcomer Mary Hamlin. Unfortunately however, Hamlin does not appear to be bright enough to see through the enormous gaslighting Moyer is trying to pull with Measure H. She has given Moyer’s Measure H her unconditional endorsement.

The fact alone that the San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital is willing to associate themselves with George Moyer, this notoriously crooked swamp creature, should tell every voter everything they need to know. In a way, we should thank the hospital for sending us such a clear message. Now we know for sure : the only possible vote on Measure H is “NO”.

.

CONCLUSION

When it comes to Measure H red flags are everywhere. Ask yourself: have you ever seen a hospital without an emergency room? No? That is because every general purpose hospital has one. So don’t let the Moyers of this world fear monger you into taxing yourself for this one. SGMH’s emergency room will exist as long as SGMH is a general purpose hospital.

Aside from this, SMGH already sits on tens of millions of our tax dollars which they never used for their stated purpose. Hence, there is no justification for further taxation. They will steal you blind, unless you stop them.

But here is the most important question: in an emergency, is it wise to put your life into the hands of a hospital that refuses to release their safety data, is rated “D” by America’s premier hospital rating agency and has no Joint Commission accreditation for their Emergency Department?

It may be time to realize that Measure H is driven largely by psychological chicanery, rather than critical analysis.
